Preparation
-
1.
Melt half the butter and cool slightly.
-
2․
Combine milk, yeast and white sugar. Add melted butter and 1 egg. Add salt and cardamom, and then gradually add flour. Knead soft dough.
You may need a little more or less flour.
-
3․
Cover the bowl with the dough and let it sit at room temperature for about 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
-
4.
For the filling, melt and cool the second half of the butter. Combine it with cinnamon and brown sugar.
-
5.
Sprinkle the table with flour. Divide the dough in half. Roll each part into a thin rectangle and cover with a portion of the filling.
-
6․
Roll the dough into tight rolls on the short side. Cut them into trapezoid-shaped buns.
-
7․
Place the pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment, narrow side up. Press the tops with your finger or the handle of a spoon.
-
8.
Cover the baking sheet with a towel and leave the buns to rise for 1 hour.
-
9.
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Beat the remaining egg with a fork and brush the dough with it. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
Sprinkle with pearl sugar if desired.
