The plane linking Doha to Dublin experienced turbulence over Turkey, indicates the airport of the Irish capital. He was able to land as planned early in the afternoon.
Six passengers and six crew members were injured this Sunday, May 26 after turbulence during a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Dublin, the Irish capital’s airport said in a statement. Flight QR17 encountered turbulence while over Turkey and was able to land “safely” in Dublin shortly before 1 p.m. (local time), specifies the airport. Emergency services were able to treat the injured, and eight of them were taken to hospital.
Qatar Airways has confirmed that“a small number of passengers and crew members were slightly injured during the flight and were treated by emergency services”in a press release sent to Irish public media RTÉ. The flight was operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, but no link between the turbulence encountered and the model of the aircraft has been made at this stage. The incident “will now be the subject of an internal investigation”specified the company, recalling that safety is its “priority”. The aircraft’s return flight to Doha this afternoon should take off as planned, albeit with a slight delay, Dublin Airport said.

The incident occurs a few days after violent turbulence which left one dead and more than a hundred injured on a Singapore Airlines flight. The plane then had to be diverted to Bangkok so that the victims could be treated. This Sunday, five of them were still in intensive care, according to the hospital in the Thai capital.
