Some residents of Kaméré, a district of Nouméa, experienced a night of terror. Their two-story residence was set on fire. they watched helplessly as their home was destroyed and now they “will have to return to France”.

These young parents of a two-month-old baby had left their residence in Kaméré, recently purchased, to seek shelter a week ago. Friday evening, they were alerted by the triggering of the alarm motion detection installed in their house When they turned on the camera, they noticed that intruders were ransacking their home.By the time they called the neighbors, they had set the fire. We were treated to a video of our house on fire“, confides the father in tears.
The mother will ask to be repatriated to France with their baby, while her husband will stay to try to save his construction company which employs ten employees.
According to the high commission, during this night of terror in Kaméré, 35 people from the neighborhood who were fleeing the fires had to be evacuated by sea. Four boats belonging to local residents transported them to shelter. 25 people spent the night in the premises of a high school, while 10 others were able to find new accommodation on their own. There are no injuries.
