This is less than 24 hours after the American president’s phone call to Benyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, that the Israeli army publishes its report on the strike which caused the death of the seven humanitarian workers. A serious blunder which could have been avoided, concludes the internal investigation carried out vigorously.
This was an error in operational assessment of the situation, the report indicates. The team controlling the drones behind the strikes wrongly thought that the three vehicles of the American NGO World Central Kitchen’s humanitarian organization were transporting members of Hamas. The investigation reveals a series of deficiencies at the origin of this tragedy.

Measures have been adopted to allow nighttime identification of vehicles belonging to humanitarian organizations. And also a disciplinary decision: the dismissal of two officers of the rank of colonel and commander. One of them is a reservist. Several high-ranking officers, including two generals, were further blamed for their overall responsibility.
Sanctions which were poorly received by the right wing of the Israeli government. For Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, the army must support its soldiers even in the event of an identification error.
