In Lebanon, state media announces one dead in Israeli raid near hospital
One person was killed and several others injured Monday in an Israeli strike near a hospital in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese National Information Agency (NNA). “An enemy drone targeted shortly before 10 a.m. (9 a.m. Paris time)using a guided missile, a motorcycle near Salah-Ghandour hospital, in the locality of Bint Jbeil », added the agency. The strike made “a martyr and several injured”according to the same source, which did not specify whether the person killed was a civilian.
The hospital is managed by the Islamic Health Committee, affiliated with Hezbollah, which did not immediately announce the death of one of its members. According to hospital staff, ten people were injured, four of them seriously.
Mohammed Suleiman, the director of the hospital, added to the American agency Associated Press (AP) that two of the injured were in serious condition.
The Israeli attack targeting a motorcycle on Monday was the fourth of its kind since Sunday, following similar strikes in other locations. On Sunday, Israeli strikes killed at least seven people, two civilians and five fighters whose deaths Hezbollah announced.
Since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on October 7, pro-Iranian Hezbollah has regularly targeted northern Israel in support of Hamas, its ally. The Israeli army responds by carrying out strikes deeper and deeper into Lebanon and targeting Hezbollah officials.
