A sentence of 15 to 18 months in prison, including a period of suspended probation for 3 years, was requested by the prosecution against Hervé Pinto at the end of the two-day trial before the Court of Justice. Fort-de-France Correctional Facility.

After two days of a heated trial, the requisitions fell. This Wednesday afternoon (April 24), the prosecution requested a sentence of 15 to 18 months’ imprisonment, including a period of suspended probation for 3 years against Hervé Pinto.

The man, aged 55, is on trial for “carrying a category D bladed or incapacitating weapon without legitimate reason, moral harassment, invasion of privacy by capture and disturbance of the peace of others by noise attacks”. Offenses which would have occurred between December 2023 and March 2024.

The General Advocate’s requisitions include several obligations:

  • compensation for victims
  • ban on contact with victims
  • the ban on staying in the Clouette district for 3 years
  • the ban on carrying a weapon for 3 years.

Hervé Pinto has been detained in Ducos prison since March 10 for “non-compliance with the obligations linked to his judicial control and in particular the ban on going to the Hameau de la Pagerie, Clouette district in Trois-Îlets”according to the Prosecutor.

Tried since yesterday (Tuesday April 23), the president of Kolektif Jistis Matinik refused to appear in court this morning. The man, who disputes all the accusations against him, denounces “a lack of impartiality” in that case.

To signal this, the latter decided to start a hunger strike. He also refused to appear in court this Wednesday. The hearing continued despite his absence.

For the record, Hervé Pinto is demanding the restitution of land he claims, in the Clouette district of Trois-Ilets.
