DECRYPTION – Despite economic sanctions, Iran has in recent decades developed a military structure focused on a powerful arsenal of missiles and drones.
There was a time when the Iranian army was the most powerful in the Middle East against Israel. But, at that time, the imperial state led by the Persian Pahlavi dynasty was not only allied to the Hebrew state but also “friend”and as such, cooperated in military matters until signing an agreement in 1977 for the creation of common ballistic missiles.
Today, after Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel and the Israeli response on Thursday night against Iranian military targets in the Isfahan region, the two countries, which have become sworn enemies, have never been so close to open war. Preparing for such an eventuality, the Islamic Republic has been developing its armed forces accordingly for four decades.
