No, the Kremlin will not condemn the Iranian attack on Israel. On Sunday, April 14, the Israeli ambassador to Moscow, Simona Galperin, nevertheless raised the bar. “We expect our Russian colleagues to condemn the unprecedented Iranian attack on Israeli territory,” the diplomat said in the morning. She did not wait long, only to be violently called to order by Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for Russian diplomacy who, too, is renowned for not having her tongue in her pocket. “Simona, remind me when Israel condemned even one strike by the Kiev regime against Russian regions? Don’t you remember? Me neither. But I remember regular statements from Israeli officials supporting the criminal and terrorist actions of Bankova Street,” she replied, referring to the presidency’s address in kyiv.

Before this exchange of kindnesses, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had published a press release which above all recalled the “right to self-defense” of the Iranians after the strike against their consulate in Damascus on April 1. This attack was “vigorously condemned” by Russia, underlines the text. Later in the morning, the Russian Ministry revealed that Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian spoke on the phone – an opportunity to once again outline Tehran’s position.
