It was a surge of solidarity that took place on Thursday April 18. Late in the afternoon, a septuagenarian crashed into a lamppost while driving on a highway in Minnesota. As he tried to escape from his vehicle, it caught fire, trapping the man inside the passenger compartment, trapped by a safety barrier. Faced with this situation, several motorists stopped to try to help the old man.
“Take me out, take me out, take me out”
“He was conscious. He said get me out, get me out, get me out,” explains Kadir Tolla, one of the men who came to his aid, according to the New York Post. Video, captured by the driver’s car cameras, shows him attempting to smash the driver’s window with a piece of plastic, to no avail.
As the flames spread, a road worker managed to break the window, allowing motorists to take the victim to safety. The driver was not injured, but was still transported to the regional hospital.
